"The Adventure of the Empty House"

(From The Return of Sherlock Holmes)

Summary:
In this story, Sherlock Holmes reveals to Dr. Watson that he faked his death after his battle with Professor Moriarty at the Reichenbach Falls. Holmes had gone into hiding to outsmart Moriarty’s criminal network, which was still hunting him. Now back in London, Holmes and Watson work together to capture Colonel Moran, one of Moriarty’s most dangerous allies. They use a wax dummy and a clever trap to lure Moran out and catch him red-handed.

Personal Response:
I really enjoyed this story because it was full of suspense and surprise. The moment Holmes appeared alive after everyone believed he was dead was shocking and exciting. It was fascinating to see how Holmes used careful planning and disguise to stay hidden and then trap his enemy. I liked the friendship between Holmes and Watson—it felt real and loyal. This story showed me how clever Holmes is and how justice can win through patience and intelligence.
